I'm sorry....I don't get this...what exactly does this mean? Define "general purpose". Is a computer with a GUI not "general purpose"? I'm running about 10 different programs on my computer and it has a GUI. What exactly am I giving up? Do i need to be using a DEC PDP-11 to be deserving of computer use?

A general-purpose computer is one that doesn't impose undesired restrictions on you, such as those mandated by Digital Restrictions Management technology, like that required by legal DVD players in the US. The output of a DVD player (or similar program) is the eye-candy referred to in the shirt.
